Direct Embroidery - The embroidery process most people use is direct embroidery. Where You have a finished polo shirt and embroidery is place onto a specified location of the polo.
Some of the more popular locations for direct machine embroidery is;
- Left chest or heart location.
- Either a right sleeve location or left sleeve location
- Back Yoke (just below the collar on a polo shirt or three inches down on a t-shirt.
Appliqué - The appliqué process is a more advanced process. It is used in adding fabric of another color or texture to a garment (normally a long sleeve sweatshirt). The process know as team lettering is used in baseball uniforms, booster clubs sweat shirts, basketball uniforms, hockey uniforms, and football uniforms. A common practice this past year has even lead to cheer leader uniforms, satin jackets and hooded sweatshirts to receive a great deal of practicality in the appliqué business.
Patches - There are many styles of patches that people request from us. We have done patches for baseball, volunteer organizations like T.E.A.M. an acronym which stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. IMPACT which is a community organization designed to help in community projects. The most common shape that we manufacture is a circle or round patch.
Generally three inches in diameter with an edge that has been bordered with a heavy thread. This process is known as a merrowed edge. Even though this is the most popular we still have done rectangular patches as well as patches that the design actually defines the shape of the patch. These are a custom patch and often requires a hand cut edge after the manufacturing process.
3d Embroidery or Puff Embroidery - This is a very ingenious method of altering the style of embroidery. By using material that is laid down on the fabric and then is embroidered over giving portions of the embroidery a raised appearance or puffed embroidery look if you will. This process requires a special digitizing setup that allows the sandwiched material to be cut or perforated during the embroidery process so that it can be removed after completion of the design. A lot of customers use this process on baseball hats. It even has its place in some character designs.
Monogramming - This is quite possibly how most embroiders get started in the business of embroidery. It has long been a fashion statement for men's fashions and women's fashions alike. There are many different layouts used in the monogramming business. Personalization layouts can have a even font where all of the letters are the same height. Personalized items even can have a diamond shape layout where the center letter of the monogram is larger than the letter before or after it. Our monograms usually cost $5.00 per location provided the embroidery is on a single line and not longer than four and a half inches in width.
Directional Sewing-This method uses a direction to create a shading effect to the embroidery. The embroidery thread has a luster value when thread is sewn in a different direction the light hits it at a different angle causing the thread to look a different shade of that color being used. Directional embroidery is often used to create a rich looking embroidery by coordinating the directional pattern of the stitches.
Solar Active Threads- Recently solar or UV activated thread has been introduced to the market. Currently approximately 10 different colors are available. When sunlight hits the light colored thread the chemically treated thread turns to a different color.
Glow in the Dark Threads- As the name suggest this thread will glow in the dark after being charged by uv light rays.
Mixed Media Embroidery- This suggest a combination of either screen print and embroidery withing the same design.
Pre manufactured Panels- To help avoid high cost of damages or simply to create a clean finished look often embroidery will be completed prior to assembly of the garment or accessory.
Metallic Threads- This is a foil wrapped thread that creates a truly glistening effect when used in embroidery.
Embroidery Only- A method used by sewing into a substrate that can be removed by either water steam or tearing away the substrate embroidered into.
